Hyland pushes for Dems' support
Cincinnati Post February 7, 2000 by Sharon Moloney
Say what you want, Marilyn Hyland, the longest-running candidate for county commission this election cycle, is looking like a real veteran. She and her radio ads pop up everywhere, and she makes a splendid pest of herself at county commission meetings. She's also been making the rounds of the big Democratic wards and last week picked up the support of a majority of precinct executives in important Ward 7, the heavily Democratic Roselawn-Bond Hill area. That's despite the fact she hasn't been endorsed by the county Democratic Party, which has endorsed Cincinnati City Council Member Todd Portune. Ward Chairman Jim Franklin confirmed Ms. Hyland got the support of precinct executives, but said he didn't know how many. Ms. Hyland counted a majority. Her radio commercials -- which lambast GOP opponent Bob Bedinghaus for his part in negotiating the Paul Brown Stadium lease -- are heard in the most unexpected places. The last popped up during the all-night, Art Bell show... "We're everywhere," Ms. Hyland says.
